Getting Started
First steps
The first steps as a new member who joins an organisation by invitation, and as the person who initialises a new OrcAI instance and prepares its first organisation.
Join an organisation by invitation, or initialise a new instance and prepare its first organisation.
Join an organisation
- Open the link in your invitation email, and Create your account opens with your email address filled in. Enter your name and a password, agree to the privacy policy and terms of use, and choose Create account. If you already have an account, choose Sign in below the form instead, and after signing in you accept the invitation on the organisation selection page. See Invitations.
- If OrcAI asks you to select an organisation, choose the one you joined. See Active organisation.
- Open the Use tab on Home. The first time, a short tour shows the sidebar, Start a chat, your chats and your account.
- Ask a question in the composer on the Use tab, or choose Start a chat in the sidebar to pick a bot or a model first. See Chat.
- Ask the OrcAI Assistant when you want to know how something in OrcAI works.
To protect your account, add two-factor authentication or a passkey on the Account page.
Set up a new instance
- Run OrcAI and its services, for example with Docker Compose.
- Open the app, and a new instance leads to Initialise instance, where you create the first organisation and your account as its Admin and as instance admin. See Initialise an instance.
- Work through the Readiness checklist on Home's Manage tab. A chat needs an enabled provider, a chat model and a quota pool that covers the person and the model. The OrcAI Assistant also needs the organisation's Assistant model and a quota pool that covers that model. Organisation setup walks through these steps and then through uploading assets, building a bot and inviting people.
